This security measure prevents shoplifting with the use of surveillance technology that consists of three main components:

  • Electronic Antenna
  • Deactivator/ Detacher
  • Electronic Tag

Types of Electronic Article Surveillance Systems
Magnetic or magneto-harmonic
These are tags made from a strip of amorphous metal and have a very low magnetic saturation value. These tags are convenient in their dimensions with an affordable cost.

Acousto-magnetic or magnetostrictive
Tags are similar to magnetic tags. However, it is made of two strips with Magnetostrictive, ferromagnetic amorphous metal and a strip of magnetically semi hard metallic strip. This works as a biasing magnet with a greater signaling strength to allow deactivation.

Radio Frequency
These tags are essentially a LC tank circuit that has a resonance peak anywhere from 1.75 to 9.5 MHz. The standard frequency for retail use is 8.2 MHz Sensing is achieved by sweeping around the resonant frequency and detecting the dip.

Microwave
These permanent tags are made of a non-linear element (a diode) coupled to one microwave and one electrostatic antenna.

Adax has implemented this security solution for a variety of applications, for high value products they can be protected with patrons, wired alarm chips an ideal substitute for the tags. Different products can use a variety of tags and labels subjected to the value and the size of a product. Deactivation/ detachment of the product are authorized by the cashier prior to the exit point that works with an alarm activation system to identify non authorized products.
